What a wonderful last leg of the tour up north with my music family; L-FRESH The LION & DJ MK-1. I personally felt welcomed, respected and supported not only as the only woman on the tour but as a fellow artist who brought equally the passion, professionalism and positive spirit within the tour with my new music family REMI, Sensible J, Dutch, Aiden & crew.
We started the last leg of the RAW X INFINITY TOUR in the Sunshine Coast, to Brisbane and ended in beautiful Byron Bay.
Its great to see people of all cultures coming together to enjoy great music and vibes. Through the eyes of a female hype man, I have experienced from stage the jolted, oh wow token factor as this female on stage giving it like a stereotype HipHop male, but once they feel my honest, fun, goofy, electric and energetic professional vibe the audience takes it all in positively and smiles back with the same vibes. Its great to also see females in the audience raising arms and sharing radiant smiles with me whilst on stage and great hugs afterwards, sharing that they loved hearing and seeing a woman do her thing! Not a ‘woman only’ power thing, its also great to meet fellas who respond with loud ‘yeyers” and pounds, respecting the grind and see I’m giving it my all. To the many new fans/supporters I have met after each performance and shared with me such lovely supportive compliments of my vocals. I express such humble and blushing gratitude as I am really working hard towards this vocal life. I wish to give such respect towards you all for your supportive time, upon social networks, our personal meet and greets and your enthusiastic smiles whilst I’m on and off stage. HUGS to you!!
One of the many reasons I love to perform, is that I continuously learn or have a personal ‘ahaah’ moments, after each rehearsal, soundcheck, or during each performance. I have gained knowledge either for the whole band or for myself to become better. Having these consecutive tour date performances really has improved and strengthened my vocal confidence. Prior lessons, I have taught myself to sing, or wasn’t consistent with another wonderful singing teacher. I cheated myself and that could have harmed my singing vocals and rhyming vocal abilities. Becoming hype-man (person) and vocalist, for L-FRESH The LION, I took the initiative to take weekly vocal coaching to keep them cared for to perform for our tours.
TOUR BLOG:-I am so HipHop with this bear!
I travel with my teddy bear, yes I’m a grown as woman with a bear, yet this bear is apart of me and has been since I was adopted and he will forever continue to be apart of my living years. He’s my serenity whilst I travel on planes and keeps home apart of me. It’s a hoot to see reactions from air stewards and plane seat neighbours with me happily smiling with my teddy haha. The first time touring last year as L-FRESH The LION’s 7 piece band, all members especially DJ MK-1 shared “Oh shhhhhit when did he pop up?” hahha, know Ted’s known as the token tour manager.
SUNSHINE COAST 17th July 2014: This was our 2nd visit to performing in Sunshine Coast.
L-FRESH The LION, DJ MK-1 & I travelled to The Sunshine Coast to perform the first time earlier this year 2014 for Sunshine Coast University Open day. It was a sunny day performing outside on the Uni’s grounds with wallabies bouncing around and eating on the school grounds, with excited new University students listening as they moved around being introduced to their new Uni Future. A humble introduction.
This time with REMI on his RAW X INFINITY Tour, we were more of a focus as it was indoor at venue SolBar. Great stage space and venue with an awesome sound man Bryan. We arrived straight from airport to the venue for soundcheck with REMI, and Sensible J. Met the rest of the tour fam, and got straight into it. Our routine soundcheck always started with REMI, Sensible J & Dutch preparing stage with live Drum set and equipment, then Sensible J beating the rhythmic drums and symbols to get the whole room vibrating to a perfect sound. Dutch playing his beats machine and other equipment to compliment the live drums, then adding the vocal element by Remi. Check One’s and two’s were then heard from Remi and Sensible J with adding hilarious renditions of old school Westcoast rhymes.
The magic new 3 tour buddies; Remi, L-FRESH The LION & I had fit in our goofy fun time making our own woohahhh HipHip video I placed it on
The night started with Bates opening the night up and casting out a great vibe with his talented crew from an emcee, DJ and singers. They blissed the opening to then welcoming L-FRESH The LION feat. myself and Dj MK-1. The crowd was sporadically spread around and L-FRESH singularly took the stage to present his tone of the night with an accepella to introduce his lyrical vibe to the new audiences ears. In the beginning you feel the air filled with questions of who what and then taken back and then you hear escaping from the darkness beyond the bright stage lights hollering of cheers and woops with claps and yeyers with approval, I then enter stage as female hype-man sharing the last word of L-FRESH’s lyric and share a welcoming Wasssssssssup!!!! The audience stares at my petite stature and hears a booming tone come out to then have L-FRESH The LION charge in with his song “Heart the Pen” We then continue to share a fun, energetic yet communicative pace for the audience to grab the reigns or sit back to just watch the positive performance we aim to project.
The energy was raised and Solbar fantastically participated in our call and responses and swaying their arms and raising Power to the Peaceful Fists straight in the air.
Such a great start for the last leg of the tour on the North coast. Thank you very much Sunshine Coast for your passionate and positive compliments, your support on and off stage, really enjoyed you! RESPECT!!
After we got off from performing L-FRESH and I looked at each other like ‘Need FOOOOD!’
We both were so hungry, as we didn’t get to eat before this performance. Especially after our performances having fun jumping and sharing our energy we went like we were hunters to get something to eat, we exited the greenroom/side stage to groups of awesome supportive comments about our show with respected pounds by excited Remi supporters as they awaited close to the front stage.
I ordered my fave ‘chicken’ haha and had it brought to me behind stage so I could vibe to Remi, Sensible J and Dutch giving it there all and hearing the crowd loving it.
After REMI had a wonderful set, we all drove back to hotel and chilled out together eating a lovely plate of delicious finger foods Solbar made and packed for us, so it was all cups of tea, food and a relaxing catch up until sleep hit us all in the face to then wake up and prepare for Brisbane Tour. On to the next…
BRISBANE 18th July 2014:
I woke up early in the morning in Sunshine coast and decided to go for a walk outdoors towards the beach, and I was glad I did, I got to feel the ocean breeze and see the local elders doing their fast pace walking and enjoying the winter sun vibes. The crisp air was refreshing and having the rays upon my face was fantastic in the morning.
Sunshine Coast Beach Experience:
Eventually the men all awoke, and decided to have a fantastic Middle Eastern breakfast down from our gig the previous night at Solbar. Another great tour life fam catch up with laughs and business chit chat and then we drove together in our tour car to get to Brisbane for our routine soundcheck. Once we arrived in Brisbane Remi, Dutch and I walked around and found a place to purchase a coffee and Italian hot Chocolate, yum we were satisfied and walked back to the Hotel where we L-FRESH The LION’s crew was staying and you could see all of Brisbane from our Floor level of 69! Man it was crazy! It looked like we were above the clouds.
We all took off bout 5pm rugged up as it was freezing that afternoon, and arrived at The Bowler Bar to get warm and to organise the fun set ahead. As Remi and crew did their sound check, MK-1 and I found on the opposite side of stage an oldshool pinball and Street Fighter machine. Oh it was on, we scrounged up our shrapnel like two ten year olds and found $1’s to play our games. We were playing them as if we were in the Olympics. Hahaha, Remi joined us after his vocal check and cheered us on with laughter. It was our turn then to soundcheck and feel the stage and vibe. The Bowler Bar is a dark venue yet its deep and the stage and sound was awesome, Thank to all the sound men, they each represented during the tour.
It was lovely to hear Bates start the night again, and to have another supportive crowd for L-FRESH The LION with DJ MK-1 having fun crowd surfing.
We also had special talented guests Majik Honey of XFACTOR who are my nieces that turned up and performed on stage too and cyphered with REMi, L-FRESH The LION and I, they killed it and the crowd went wild!! So Proud of them!

BYRON BAY 19th July 2014:
Sigh… That moment when you go awww man it’s the end of this with this tour fam; REMI, Sensible J & Dutch what a wonderful positive professional time! Look forward in working with them again.
One door closes and another opens to new positive prosperous ventures to come forth for us.
What a treat it was, to end the RAW X INFINITY tour in beautiful Byron Bay, met up with new Byron residents, Sydney friends N3 and Rhys of Fight Music. Walked to the beach and took a deep breath of fresh ocean air and the spirit of Byron.
Such a wonderful moment to walk and talk.
Drove from Brisbane and arrived in Byron bout 1pm so had time to chill out surrounded by beautiful plants and catch up with our friendly fam, and ate a wonderful home cooked seafood pasta by N3’s father. Then took off bout 4:30pm to The Brewery Bar/Arts Factory Byron Bay for Sound check. Met up at the venue with Remi, Sensible J, Dutch, Aiden, Rhett and Dave respectful hugs and pounds exchanged. We all shared honest compliments about how dope it has been sharing this opportunity and touring with one another, and shared how sad that it had finally ended.
In our Green Room Remi and I realised we both worn our warm winter lumber jack or homes shirts on… so we had to pose and then later there was a seat next to Sensible J as he drummed for his beat machine thingy ma bob to place on it, but before it was laid out I sat on the seat and thought what if I just sat there through their whole set and had a cuppa tea and knitted, a silly moment we had.
The night was filled with a celebrating audience of each act and also had HipHop Byron residents Luka Lesson & SmackTown’s N3, they joined Remi during his Cypher part of the show with L-FRESH The LION and myself. The night slowly ended and awesome supporters stayed back so we all could catch up with personal chit chat meet and greets, Respect for those who supported by purchasing merch. It’s always a wonderful experience meeting people that take the time to support us.
